Department of conservative dentistry & endodontics The Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics was established in the year 2000. Department’s central objective is to focus on excellence in patients care plus providing sublime quality teaching and clinical training to under graduate and post graduate students. The department has a modern design with air-conditioned fully equipped undergraduate and post graduate sections with two special operatories to perform special cases and micro surgical procedures. Department encompasses exclusive all ceramic laboratory and two separate rooms for radiography. All the post graduate students have their separate cubicles with all facilities of modern clinics (like drawers, Granite counter tops and sink) Department caters to a heavy OPD of 130-170 patients and aims to achieve maximum patients satisfaction & holistic care. This also provides ample opportunities for post graduates and under graduate to get exposed to diverse and challenging cases in their daily practice. Personal attention is paid to all students individually. Preclinical anterior root canal therapy is introduced in 2nd year BDS and department boasts of early induction of clinical Endodontics in 3rd year BDS itself. Clinically, esthetic restorative dentistry is introduced in final year and in internship, the interns in the department perform posterior root canal cases (Molar root canal ). Post graduate curriculum Every Post graduate of the department completes on an average of 600-800 Root Canal procedures including simple to very challenging cases during their curriculum. The post graduate students also utilize contemporary diagnostic approaches like CBCT on regular basis to diagnose and treat atypical morphology and aberrant pathologies. Department also boasts of recent advanced equipment and materials (operating microscope, ultrasonic’s, noval obturating systems, biomimetic root filling materials etc) in treatment modalities to upgrade standards of patients care along with enhancing knowledge of post graduate students. Students are encouraged to be active in mainstream as well as inter-department specialty workshops & conferences.
